April 2010

On Wednesday 14th April we took Molly, Jacko, Percy, Ludo, (gatecrashed by Rachel and big Gem) to Gracelands Equestrian Centre.  The riders were Suzie, Tom, Faye, Sabrina, Molly and Beth.  Gayle also took her horse Brandy (one of our livery horses) for his first outing to the centre.  We came away with an armful of ribbons, including clear rounds, 1st, 3rd and 4th places in the two classes. Anyone interested in coming along to support us on our next outing would be made very welcome!

March 2010

Wednesday 24th March saw 6 Ashes taking 5 horses and a small army of supporters to Gracelands Equestrian Centre, Driotwich, for an evening of fun Clear Rounds and sucess in the 2 classes entered.  Sabrina (Ludo), Emma (Winston), Beth (Jacko), Molly (Charlie Blue) and Rachel (big Gem) all took part in the Clear Round.  A big 'well done' went out to Beth, who gave it her all in the clear round and her efforts resulted in a well earned rosette.  In the 1st class of 14 riders, Molly came 1st place with the only clear round in the class!  Rachel came a speedy 2nd with 4 faults, and Sabrina took third place.  Emma and Winston were on great form and enjoyed themselves so much decided to enter the 2nd class!  The 2nd class had good sucess again, with a 2nd place for Rachel and 3rd for Sabrina, who rode Ludo beautifully.  All riders came away looking forward to the next 6 Ashes outing!

6 Ashes had a sucessful evening on Wednesday 17th March at the evening Show Jumping at Kings Equestrian Centre, Bromyard with Clear Rounds for all and 1st Place for Beth and Jacko in their class!  Sabrina (Charlie Blue) and Rachel (big Gem) did not want to be out-done, and also collected 2nd and 3rd Places in their class.  A brilliant evening was had by all.

September 12th 2009  Pet Plan Festival

What a fantastic day!  70.5% great win at the Pet Plan Dressage Festival which qualifies me for the Championship in April 2010 at Hartbury College.  The win was all down to my trainer, Leonie Smith.

Milton Keynes unaffiliated 3 Day Event

May Bank Holiday weekend (25th - 27th) was Milton Keynes unaffiliated 3 Day Event. We have been waiting a long time for this event so were all very excited, and a little bit nervous! Kate rode in class 0 with Charlie Blue, Faye took Welt Master Sent (Ludo) in class1 and Gaynor rode Kwalitait (Mik) in class 2.

We had such a brilliant weekend, with Gaynor getting third in class 2 with Mik, this being his 2nd third place in a row. Charlie did really well, however a timing mistake in the roads and tracks cost them 3rd place, and they eventually finished 25th, jumping clear in cross country and showjumping. Unfortunately Ludo wasn't too keen on the cross country, so we are now focusing on his dressage and showjumping.

The weather was beautiful which made the weekend even better, instead of the constant downpour of last year!!

The Foals! - Update March 2010

The foals are now geldings!!! and fast approaching their first birthday, they both are completly different in thier personalities, Harry being the worrier just like his mum and Yankee thinks he knows best all the time, even showing his jumping skills with jumping the electric fencing!  I call him Houdini...he likes to go from field to field as he so pleases, doesnt please me though! Yankee is getting a big boy whilst Harry is staying nice and petite - good news for me as dont want a huge horse to back as i am getting older and want a quiet life!!!

Its hard to believe nearly 12 months  has passed since we published news of the foal's arrival.....

"After a very long wait and some sleepless nights spent in the lorry, Rio finally had her foal. She gave birth at 4am on Monday 27th April, to a dun colt who has been named Yankee.

On Wednesday 29th Ellie's foal arrived, at 1pm. There were a few problems but Harry eventually arrived perfectly healthy. Both mares and their babies are doing fine, and have been turned out together in the field."
